Ecodesign

Committed to circular packaging to reduce waste generation.

We help companies apply the circular economy to their packaging

From linear economy to circularity

Thanks to ecodesign, at TheCircularLab we help companies that are part of Ecoembes implement this philosophy. Ecodesign analyses the environmental impact of packaging throughout its entire life cycle and introduces improvements to make it 100% circular. Choosing easily recyclable or reusable packaging, as well as packaging that includes recycled material or has a lower environmental footprint, are some of the ecodesign measures that companies can adopt to contribute to this transition. In addition, this will help them meet new targets for reduction and integration of recycled material, and increase the recyclability and circularity of all their packaging.

From the moment packaging is recycled to its transformation into another product

We analyse the entire life cycle of packaging, from its design phase to its integration as recycled material into another package or product.

1. We generate knowledge

We conduct technical studies to analyse how packaging behaves throughout its life cycle: from the moment it is marketed to its transformation into a new raw material, through the way it is processed and recycled in the different facilities it goes through within the system coordinated by Ecoembes.

2. Development of new sustainable materials

We continuously innovate to find new alternatives to packaging that currently cannot be recycled.

We channel our knowledge into creating a new material that is 100% circular.

3. We guide you towards circularity

We help you apply circularity to your packaging to ensure it is more easily recyclable and can be integrated as new recycled raw material into other packaging and/or products. We thus promote efficiency and sustainability throughout its entire life cycle.

What can you do to achieve real circularity?

  • Use more recycled material
  • Make the entire packaging more recyclable
  • Close the ‘Packaging to Packaging’ circle

4. Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)

We help you optimise your packaging value chain through life cycle analysis, from its design stage to its transformation into a new raw material.

We apply ecodesign to everything we do. Every project we develop comes with a transversal analysis of its environmental impacts.

Place yourself on the circular economy map

Close the circle. Proper waste separation is essential in the recycling process. The circular economy won’t work without you.

Multicapa: Development of new sustainable materials

The overall objective of the Multicapa project is to develop new multilayer laminates designed to be recyclable or compostable, with high barrier and chemical stability properties that make them suitable for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and/or food applications.

Funding programme: Economic Development Agency of La Rioja (ADER, Agencia de Desarrollo Económico de La Rioja) – Collaborative R&D+i Project. Co-financed through the European Union’s ERDF Fund.
