Bio-Bio plastic

A circular alternative for packaging

We work on the most innovative materials to apply the circular economy

TheCircularLab researches new materials to make the packaging of the future increasingly sustainable

An innovative and 100% circular material

Bio-Bio plastic is a bio-based material, derived from organic sources, which is both compostable and recyclable.

Bio-Bio plastic embraces packaging circularity from start to finish

Explore this material’s characteristics

Natural origin

This bio-based material is sourced from 100% organic matter undergoing decomposition, such as plant waste or any other organic residue from the brown bin.

Organic process

After grinding the organic residue and extracting its nutrients, it is used to feed the microorganisms that produce the biopolymer. Finally, bioplastic is extracted and used for packaging manufacture.

Monomaterial packaging

Bio-Bio plastic allows for monomaterial packaging, which is highly recyclable (since it doesn’t require separating into its different components).

Compostable

Bio-bio packaging is industrially compostable. It biodegrades faster than conventional materials, reducing its lifespan in nature, even in marine environments, if not properly disposed of.

Mechanically recyclable

At the end of its life cycle, the packaging can be recycled using mechanical processes and conventional plastic transformation methods.

Food regulations

We work in compliance with food contact regulations. Just like plastics from non-plant-based sources, Bio-Bio plastic can be used for packaging food and beverages.
